Tamborine Mountain Tours has ceased trading

It is with great sadness in our hearts we advise Tamborine Mountain Tours has ceased trading due to the tragic and untimely passing on Monday, 10 June of John McKenzie, the dedicated and hardworking proprietor of the tours for the past eight years.

John loved Tamborine Mountain and together with his beautiful wife, Gloria, only ever wanted to share it with visitors to Queensland through his tours. He was proud of the place, its people and went out of his way to help anyone; sightseeing tourists, travelling workers, neighbours, business colleagues, other tourism businesses on the mountain and off, the kids on the school bus service, the employees, family and his lifelong friends.

We will miss him and the Mountain will miss seeing him drive around in the iconic Tamborine Trolley bus talking on loud speaker about the sights and history.

We also know that he would want you to still come to Tamborine and experience just one day on our Mountain. He would want you to explore the National Park Walks, doing some shopping, drink the wines and beers, gorge on cheeses, walk amongst the tree tops, go into the caves, dine on fine food, share a liqueur and finish with fudge and handmade chocolates....and would have said, you should stay the night, you need more than one day!

Visit Discover Tamborine or call 0488 TAMBORINE (826 267) for all the information on the other tour groups, the attractions, shops, restaurants and accommodation.

Gloria, John's family and the staff of TMT would like thank everyone for their kind messages of support, offers of assistance and for sharing their wonderful memories of their friendship with John.

On behalf of John, thank you to every customer who loved the tours, loved the trolley bus, who spread the word and a special thank you to those that came back time and time again.

We hope whatever comes next for the Trolley bus, it is dedicated to John and his tireless effort to promote the Mountain he loved.
